Look, I don't know why you criticize Al Gore. You already know what you're getting with Al: a shameless self-promoter who comes across as smarmy and completely unlikeable.

You cannot take anything he says seriously. He always seems like he's lying. He hurts to listen to, he's never direct or plain. He always feels like he's being too clever by half.

So you know that global warming is real. But when Al talked about it on the Today show, I started to feel "...hmmm...this guy sounds like he's trying to fake me out about something... hey, maybe global warming isn't real..." and you can't shake that feeling for 5 minutes.

Please don't take this as the ravings of a nutty Bush supporter or anything like that. But I haven't met more than a handful of people who take Al Gore seriously on anything and most of them seem to be members of the press. And if you think I'm making that up, consider that when Clinton left office, he was a widely popular president with a good economy... If Al Gore had shut his mouth, he would have won handily against an inarticulate and frankly stupid Bush. But the election was close, and there was no reason for it to be close except that every time Al Gore opened his mouth he lost votes.

I frankly think ultimately he's doing global warming a disservice, he's getting it press, but just like the election, every time he opens his mouth about it, less people believe it.

Like on the today show, why can't he just say "I'm not running, I'm only doing this because I think it's important". Instead, we get his usual double-speak and you don't believe him any more. I'd love to hear an expert's opinion on why the guy always appears to be talking down to the audience and looks like he's lying at *everything*.
